Earlier this year Anne Morgan and Fiona Levings met with Sue McKerracher (Executive Director) and Bec Taylor (Associate Director) State Library of Tasmania to discuss a future partnership with SCBWI Tasmania. The immediate outcome of this meeting is an offer of
a free venue in the State Library HQ, Murray St Hobart, to host SCBWI TAS events and book launches.

The Story Whisperer, Stephanie Owen Reeder
Our first event in this fabulous new space was an evening with the Story Whisperer, Stephanie Owen Reeder, who led us through a lively discussion on her journey through the publishing industry and the background of many of her stories.

SCBWI Tasmania will be running workshops on self publishing to be held online so all members can participate. Details to come.
Congratulations Hobart, Tasmania now a UNESCO City of Literature
Hobart authors, illustrators and readers have gained global recognition; Hobart is now part of UNESCO’s cities of excellence, in the field of literature.
Tasmania is a small state with a small population but is home to some of the best authors and illustrators in Australia. It is also home to some of the country's lowest literacy rates.
SCBWI Tasmania, as part of its submission, emphasised the role our members will play in addressing this gap in Hobart and throughout Tasmania while enjoying new creative opportunities to further their careers.
