Each year, titles are chosen by members of the Children’s Book Committee (CBC), a division of the Center for Children’s Literature at Bank Street College of Education, which includes librarians, teachers, psychologists, and former publishing professionals with decades of experience. The list includes more than 600 titles chosen for literary quality and excellence of presentation, as well as the potential emotional impact on young readers.
