A bumper crowd of kidlit creators met on 11 March for the SCBWI QLD Sunshine Coast Sub-branch's first meeting of 2018. We were inspired by local illustrator/artist/writer Caroline Margerl who shared her colourful journey in publishing, and Kellie Byrnes who recently won a Writing with the Stars mentoring experience with US picture book author Adam Lehrhaupt. Our Kidlit Swap Meet was loads of fun and highly valuable, with each member sharing a tip or favourite resource. On 25 March a few Sunny Coasters gathered for an advance screening of the film adaptation of the children's classic A Wrinkle in Time. And finally, we congratulate Peter Carnavas, whose beautiful book The Elephant was shortlisted for the Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children's Literature. The next Sunshine Coast sub-branch meeting is on 3 June.
