SCBWI Vic Sketch and Scribble Oct 22

On Sunday 22nd October a bunch of SCBWI Vic members and friends braved the fickle Melbourne forecast to meet at Luna Park for our annual Sketch and Scribble. First we primed ourselves with coffee, in a local café, while the delightful Serena Geddes, our Illustrator Co-ordinator, shared a little of Luna’s Park’s history, along with some fascinating photos from its past.

Then we all enjoyed hearing some of the background and research behind acclaimed children’s author, Corinne Fenton’s picture books, Flame and One Christmas Eve, both featuring the famous Luna Park carousel.

I’m not sure how much actual sketching or scribbling was done on the day, but the inspiration of the setting and fun gathering was enjoyed by all. Four of our intrepid gang even braved the Scenic Railway, while some of us were needed to bag and coat sit, feet firmly on the ground. Working, of course.

With perfect timing, a light drizzle descended as we departed, closing out another fun and fabulous SCBWI Vic event. Hope to see you all again next time.
