Join us for a meet and greet to catch up with fellow SCBWI members and as a treat, you can stay afterwards for a special showing of Pioneers in Petticoats, a play about four charismatic colonial Australian women, written by our very own, Wendy Blaxland.

Pioneers in Petticoats brings to life four charismatic colonial Australian women. In 1791 First Fleet convict Mary Bryant escaped the colony in an open boat to Batavia (now Timor), with tragic results. Child pioneer Eliza Hawkins travelled on a bullock dray to Bathurst. Unsung scientist Fanny Macleay emigrated as the eldest of six unmarried daughters of the Colonial Secretary. And the legendary celebrity Lola Montez performed her Spider Dance at the Ballarat goldfields in the 1850s.

Returning in 2016 for a second season, this original play is written by award-winning playwright Wendy Blaxland and stars Australian stage and screen actress Brigid O’Sullivan. Pioneers in Petticoats lets you meet some of the inspiring women who helped shape today’s Australia.
