Huge congratulations to Lucinda Gifford on being awarded the very first Five Mile Press Illustrator Prize!
She wins a $4000 publishing contract and the opportunity to work with the Five Mile Press publishing and design team.
Publisher Kay Scarlett said the graphic designer's work was a standout among the 100 or so entries because the judges felt she had 'the strongest individual style. Her illustrations have so much personality and we don't have anything quite like her work on our list.'
Lucinda specialises in character-based loose line drawings which look like pen and ink.
Her 'fairy tale job' of picture book illustrator has certainly become a reality - wonderful news Lucinda!
