Caroline Magerl honoured at London event

Congratulations to author and illustrator Caroline Magerl. Illustrations from her forthcoming book

Piano Fingers

will be the main contemporary book at ‘The Illustrators’. This annual exhibition held by Chris Beetles Gallery in London is the largest and most popular annual event worldwide for cartoon and illustration collectors.

This year, the show will be opened by the great Michael Morpurgo and Caroline Magerl has been invited as the guest of honour at the opening weekend 20 / 21 November.

Piano Fingers will be published here in Australia by Walker Books in early 2022.

This junior fiction title was published in August 2020 by Allen & Unwin.

The hero is a scruffy chook who dreams of being a famous detective with a TV show and teams up with the daughter of the local policeman to solve crimes in the town of Little Dismal.

Our very own SCBWI committee member, Sue Whiting’s novel The Book of Chance (Walker Books Australia) was highly commended in this category

Congratulations to Kaye Baillie whose non-fiction picture book

The Friendly Games

illustrated by Fiona Burrows and published in May 2020 by MidnightSun Publishing has been shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s History Awards in the Young People’s History Prize category.

These awards aim to increase the understanding and appreciation of history by children and/or young adults.

The winners will be announced on the State Library of New South Wales website at 6.30 pm AEST on 3 September.
