Lucy is about to start high school and is becoming embarrassed by the eccentric antics she used to find endearing in her grandfather. When their relationship is threatened, she reflects on what is most important in her life.

Written in free verse, the themes of this story are love, family relationships, friendship, growing up and growing old, as well as cultural traditions around the world. It also contains two original recipes readers might like to cook.
