Libby Hathorn wins The Asher Award

Congrats to the legendary Libby Hathorn on winning the prestigious

Asher Award

for her picture book

A Soldier, a Dog and a Boy

Illustrated by Phil Lesnie, 

published by Hachette Australia, in hardback

for ages 7+

A young soldier far from home, a boy orphaned by war, and the stray dog that brings them together. A powerful story of the Somme.

More honours for Deb Abela!

Huge congrats to our amazing ARA Deborah Abela. Not only was she shortlisted in the Older Fiction Section in the

KOALA (Kids Own Australian Literature Awards) Awards 2017

for

Grimsden

published by Penguin Random House, in paperback, for ages 8 - 12,

but even more importantly, she was given the 

KOALA Legend award

for her work, multiple nominations over the years and service to the KOALA awards! 

Think we'd all agree that an award was never more aptly named! Richly deserved, Deb!!

Congrats to the wonderful Deborah Abela for winning

Best Translated Novel (ages 8 - 12) in the
National Book Awards in Malta

for her popular junior novel

Teresa A New Australian

published by Merlin Publishers Malta (Scholastic in Australia).

Teresa a New Australian tells the story of a family fleeing post-war Malta to start a new life in Australia.
