Penny Morrison is headed for kids' lit superstardom! Here's our third SCBWI blog post celebrating her achievements in a row!

The Caleb Prize is an award for books which have been created by Australasian Christian authors. Penny would like to congratulate the winners in this section, SCBWI member Penny Reeve, and illustrator Jemima Trappel, for their picture book Fearlessly Madigan (see several blog entries below).

Penny Reeve wins Caleb Prize

Congrats to Penny Reeve, who with her illustrator Jemima Trappel has won

the Caleb Prize 2016, Children's Picture Books, for Fearlessly Madison

Published by CEP Growing Faith, in hardback

For ages 2 - 7.

The Caleb prize recognises excellence in faith-inspired writing, in a variety of categories each year, celebrating published and unpublished work.

Fearlessly Madison, the second in the Madison series, is about facing fears, and having the courage to help others do the same. The first book, Wonderfully Madison, was the category winner in 2013.

Definitely on a role Penny - congrats again!

Kay Crabbe wins Speech Pathology Book of the Year award

Big congrats to Kay Crabbe on winning Speech Pathology Australia's

Book of the Year Award 2016 - Best Book for Language & Literacy Development - Indigenous Books for Children

for The Pearl-shell Diver.

Published by Allen & Unwin, in paperback

For ages 9 - 13+

The Pearl-shell Diver is the gripping adventure of Sario, a 13 year old island boy from Torres Strait in 1898. This authentic historical fiction includes a map, history timeline and indigenous customs from the pearling days of Torres Strait.

The Speech Pathology of the Year Awards promote quality Australian children's literature for language and literacy development.

Lots of short listings, but hardly ever hear of anyone actually winning! ;-) Great stuff Kay!
